Sad but true has proven to be a tough nut for us to crack. We've met them twice before in the amateur league. Twice before we've shared points. We had a good chance to turn things around yesterday, but we were lucky to get any points at all.
On the first half we played good. Occasionally we were great. The players were confident. We held the ball and created good chances on the midfield. Konala pitch was more like a potato field, but it didn't stop us from controlling the flow of the game.
Somewhere in the middle of the half we got a free kick close the opponent box. The ball was played to Mikko H. who banged a low curly shot into the net. The game was 1-0. For a moment I thought it was in the bag for us.
Second half was a different game. Suddenly we were on the receiving end. Our passes didn't find their targets. Our forward runs stopped all together. Even our stone wall defense started to crumble. Then the inevitable happened, twice. Two bad mistakes on our box gave them good 2-1 lead.
Lucky for us they got hungry for more. There was a big hassle in front of our goal. Häyskä got his hands to the ball and gave me a perfect pass. I started a long run through the empty pitch. Mikko K's accurate one two pass [edit 22.5. Mikko just told me he didn't pass it. It was defleced from the defender] found my left foot and ball ended up in the low corner.
That goal gave us a boost that might have helped us to scoring third. Unlucky for us the time run out soon after. Maybe next time. We will meet again, Sad but true!
